In response to poorly translated official COVID-19 ︎ posters produced for non-English ︎ speaking communities, Mistranslations sees artists and designers reimagine ︎ them with care. It’s a thought-provoking exhibition that demonstrates how design can support our most ︎︎︎ vulnerable communities.

What is Melbourne Design Week?

︎︎︎

Every year Melbourne Design Week seeks to challenge and inspire us through design. It’s the largest annual international design event in Australia and it’s due to take place in March 2021.

What’s Mistranslations
all about?

︎︎︎

During this time of public health emergency, good communication is fundamental, but some of Australia’s COVID-19 comms to non-English speaking communities has been poorly translated. Miscommunication like this disempowers communities who are particularly vulnerable in times of emergency.

Mistranslations will see artists and designers communicate and visually interpret COVID-19 information with care. It will be a thought-provoking exhibition that demonstrates how design can support our most vulnerable communities.
